WHAT HAPPENS IF MY SWIMMER CAN’T MAKE A PRACTICE?

If possible, let one of the coaches know in advance that your child won’t be able to attend practice, either in person or via e-mail.  Once school is over and we move to morning practice, we also will hold two afternoon practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6 pm that swimmers can attend if they need to miss their regular morning session.

MY SON WANTS TO SWIM BUT HIS BASEBALL TEAM PRACTICE INTERFERES WITH THE AFTER SCHOOL SWIM PRACTICE.  CAN HE STILL PARTICIPATE?

Absolutely!  Most swimmers participate in a variety of after school activities, some of which conflict with swim team practice while school is still in session.  The coaches ask that swimmers attend as many practices as feasible while school is ongoing.  Understandably, it’s to the swimmer’s benefit to get in that practice time; however, the coaches recognize there may be conflicts at the beginning of the season.

I HAVE THREE KIDS IN DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS.  CAN THEY ATTEND THE SAME PRACTICE TIME?

Swimmers are asked to attend the practice for their age group, unless requested otherwise by the Head Coach. Each practice session is geared towards the age, endurance level, technical abilities, and stamina of the swimmers in that age group.  By practicing with their age group, swimmers also will have the opportunity to develop their relay team skills.  Additionally, grouping kids by age allows for less crowding in the lanes and a better practice experience for all.

WHY CAN’T I STAY ON THE POOL DECK TO WATCH MY CHILD’S PRACTICE IN THE MORNINGS?

Once school ends, swim practice is held in the morning prior to the pool opening up to the general membership.  During that time, the pool’s life guards are not on duty, and the pool’s insurance policy dictates that no one is allowed on deck when the guards are not present.  The swimmers are under the supervision of their certified coaches during practice and their presence is compliant with the policy. All parents and siblings need to remain outside of the pool area during practice.  You are welcome to take advantage of the shaded seating under the pavilion, or the benches and tables located throughout the property.  Practice can still be viewed from outside the pool’s perimeter. Please do not stand at the gate between the pool house and shed to converse with your child or the coaches while practice is in session.
