The Men's team won the Men’s Division 7D
title for the second year in a row
and was also runner-up in
the annual Prosper Tournament held after the season. The two top teams
from divisions B –E play in the tournament and this is the first time the Fox
Mill Woods men’s team has ever advanced that far.
IN ADDITION . . . Last year Fox Mill Woods won the
Roger NeighborgallTrophy in its second year of existence.
The Trophy was inspired by its
namesake, Roger Neighborgall, who started the Northern Virginia Junior Tennis
League in 1968 and who still runs it as President. The trophy is awarded
to the club who had the best overall Power Rating (i.e. best overall win/loss
record for each individual match all season based on each tennis players
performance) for at least three adult teams in the league and is passed along to
the club who achieves this record on an annual basis. This is out of
approximately 130 teams Virginia wide. Fox Mill Woods had the best overall
Power Rating based on our three adult teams performance and was awarded the
Trophy in its second year of existence.
This
year, once again FMW was awarded this trophy for a repeat achievement.

Women's Tennis League
FMW women play in the Northern Virginia Tennis League (NVTL) which organizes a Spring season with matches in May and June. FMW has two teams (B and C level) that play on Tuesday evenings. Matches usually begin at 7 pm and are either played at FMW or nearby clubs. Three doubles teams play per match in a competitive but fun atmosphere. The host club provides refreshments and match balls which is your only "cost" to play.
We will kick off the season on Tuesday, April 5th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm and are open to all women members of all levels. We will practice the next three Tuesdays (4/12, 4/19 and 4/26) at the same time
so mark your calendars and come out to play and catch up with friends. Our first match is May 5th.

Men's Tennis League
We have
scheduled the season starting Round Robin on Saturday, April 9 at 9:00 am at the FMWST courts. The rain date will be on Sunday, April 10 at the same time. There is a little court maintenance to do beforehand,
so if you are able to come a little early, please show up at 8:30 am.
This is open to all current and new members, so dust off your tennis
rackets and get ready to play!
If you know any new members, please invite them to come.
FMW men play in the Northern Virginia Tennis League (NVTL) in the 7-D division. This means we play 3 singles and 2 doubles team in every matches. The league begins with the first match on Saturday, May 7 and goes through July.
In addition, every Thursday evening at 7:00pm, starting on May 13 and continuing through out the summer, the men's tennis team informally gets together on the courts to hit and practice.
